New! Supporting Pēpi and Whānau: Introducing the Carosika Collaborative

The Carosika Collaborative is a nationwide initiative in Aotearoa dedicated to improving outcomes for pēpi at risk of or born preterm, with a strong emphasis on equity for all whānau.

Our Chair of the NZCYCN Networks Nicola Austin is contributing her expertise to the Carosika Collaborative, a national initiative dedicated to improving preterm birth outcomes and achieving equity for all whānau in Aotearoa.

By uniting whānau, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers, Carosika addresses both spontaneous and provider-initiated preterm births through education, advocacy, research, and resource provision.

A key resource developed by the Collaborative is Taonga Tuku Iho, a national best practice guide for preterm birth care. This guide offers comprehensive recommendations and resources, including whānau information, standard operating procedures, and audit tools, to support the implementation of best practices in preterm birth care.

We encourage all healthcare professionals, researchers, and whānau involved in preterm birth care to explore the resources and opportunities offered by the Carosika Collaborative. By engaging with this initiative, we can collectively work towards reducing preterm births and enhancing outcomes for all whānau in Aotearoa.
